Dr. Anmolsingh
The CADRC is honored to feature Dr. Roopa Anmolsingh, a dedicated geriatrician making waves in the field of aging and dementia care.
With extensive expertise and a passion for improving the lives of older adults and their caregivers, Dr. Anmolsingh exemplifies leadership in this vital field.
Currently, she serves as a Geriatrician at the Center for Geriatric Medicine at Cleveland Clinic, focusing on consultative practice. In addition to this primary role, Dr. Anmolsingh is the Lead Geriatrician for Community Projects at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF), Head of the Geriatric Pre-Lung Transplant Section at CCF, and Director of Global Health Initiatives and Partnerships for the Foundation for the Support of the United Nations.
Through this latter role, she champions advocacy projects and campaigns supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Community Initiatives
In 2024, she spearheaded several impactful programs for the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD) community:
The Memory Cafe: A welcoming space for individuals with memory concerns and their caregivers.
Caregiver Support Groups: Offering emotional support and practical advice.
Matter of Balance Falls Prevention Program: Helping seniors reduce fall risks and maintain independence.
Senior Fairs: Showcasing resources and services for older adults.
Dementia Talks: Educational sessions designed to increase public awareness about dementia.
Inspiration & Influences
When asked what inspired her journey into geriatric medicine, Dr. Anmolsingh credited her parents as her greatest influence. “I have been on the receiving end as a caregiver myself for my parents,” she shared. This personal experience deepened her understanding of the complexities of aging and strengthened her commitment to supporting independence in older adults.
Dr. Anmolsingh also highlighted the profound impact of her dear friend, Malcolm Jenkins. “Malcolm was instrumental in giving me the chance to pursue my career and accomplish my goals. His kindness and selflessness is known not only internationally but is experienced by anyone he comes in contact with,” she noted.
ADRD Awareness
According to Dr. Anmolsingh, the greatest need in Cleveland’s ADRD community is increased awareness. She emphasized that recognizing the early signs of dementia allows patients to access treatments for early stages of the disease and participate in clinical trials. It also gives them time to plan for future care.
As a former caregiver herself, Dr. Anmolsingh is also passionate about increasing awareness of resources for caregivers. She encourages them to take advantage of available resources, adding, “This is not a road to walk alone.”
