A New Era of Mentorship: Genesis Anderson and the HU-ERA-PREP Program Join the CADRC
This spring, the CADRC at University Hospitals (UH) isn't just welcoming a new team member; it is launching a partnership. Genesis Anderson, B.A., joined the team in late March, marking the first time UH has served as a host site for Howard University’s HU-ERA-PREP grant program.
A Partnership for Progress
Genesis joins us through HU-ERA-PREP, a federally supported initiative designed to provide early-career researchers with hands-on training and opportunities to develop independent research skills. While Genesis will be engaging in her own developing research interests, her presence brings a significant boost to our local efforts.
For the CADRC, this two-year program brings valuable additional support to the UH site, directly strengthening our capacity to advance Alzheimer’s disease research. By providing structured mentorship and opportunities for independent inquiry, the program helps cultivate the next generation of investigators in aging and dementia research—a goal that aligns perfectly with the CADRC’s ongoing work.
Leadership and Mentorship
This milestone was made possible through dedicated leadership within our own halls. Lyndsi (Powell) Campbell championed the effort for University Hospitals to become a host site, paving the way for this collaboration. Under the guidance of Principal Investigator Dr. Brian Appleby, Genesis will spend the next two years working under Lyndsi’s direct mentorship.
Looking Toward 2028
Throughout her two-year placement, Genesis will be a vital fixture at the CADRC. She will contribute to the center’s ongoing research efforts while refining her own skills as a researcher. We are excited to see the impact of her work as she helps us push the boundaries of what is possible in memory care and research through early 2028.
The Big Picture
Genesis Anderson’s role supports the CADRC’s mission to not only find answers for today’s patients but to train the scientific leaders of tomorrow. Her two-year tenure marks a significant step forward in the partnership between Howard University and University Hospitals.
