Welcome to David Fincher!
We would like to welcome Mr. David Fincher to the CADRC community. Mr. Fincher joined the CADRC as a Community Advisor and Senior Ambassador in May of this year. He heard about the CADRC via a flyer at the VA, which inspired him to learn more about how he might be involved in our research. When asked why he wanted to join the CADRC, David explained his personal connection to the disease and his desire to make a difference.

David Fincher,
Senior Ambassardor
Thank you to those who made this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s a Success!
This year marked the fourth time the Cleveland Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (CADRC) participated in the Cleveland Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This year’s even took place at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Saturday, October 18. An incredible 408 teams and 4,492 participants were in attendance to help raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Many were also there to walk in honor of their loved once who have been affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
Cleveland is on of more than 600 communities nationwide that will host this event in 2025. This year the CADRC Walk to End Alzheimer’s team raised $8,381, surpassing our fundraising goal!
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who supported, walked, and donated — your efforts bring us closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.
Thank You for Making Our “We Should Take More Photos” Event a Success!
We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make our We Should Take More Photos fundraising event a success! The event was held a Forest City Brewery on October 14th. Guests enjoyed salsa lessons by Margie Colon, a dance presentation by the Hispanic Senior Center/Catholic Charities, and live salsa music by Conjunto Guarachando featuring Franky Lopez.
Thanks to your generosity—through door donations and our pick-a-prize auction—we raised $1,456, helping us surpass our $8,000 fundraising goal for this year’s Cleveland Alzheimer’s Walk! A heartfelt thank-you to our wonderful volunteers, talented musicians, and Forest City Brewery for hosting us. Your support brings us one step closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.
Are you Interested in participating in Research at the CADRC?
Researchers from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth, University Hospitals, and the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center have joined together to form the Cleveland Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (CADRC).
The CADRC is one of over 30 centers funded by the National Institute on Aging. The center aims to study the different forms of dementia in the hope that learning more about the disease can lead to new forms of treating and eventually curing Alzheimer’s and related disorders.
Volunteers are critical to the research process. The center studies both people with Alzheimer’s disease and healthy individuals who are at risk for developing dementia. This study is most interested in including volunteers who have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, mild cognitive impairment, Lewy Body Dementia, or Atypical dementia. If you would like to be contacted about research opportunities at the CADRC for yourself or someone you know, please click the link below to fill out the form or contact us at: 1-888-311-ADRC (2372).
Walk on Wednesdays with the City of Cleveland
This year, the Cleveland Department of Aging hosted its largest Summer Senior Walk series yet—13 free Wednesday morning walks held from June through August 2025. Designed to promote healthy aging, social connection, and community engagement, the walks encouraged seniors to stay active while enjoying Cleveland’s scenic parks and historic landmarks.
Seniors across the city came together to enjoy fitness, friendship, and community connection. Highlights from the summer included live music, fire safety presentations, the Silver Spokes cycling program, fresh produce giveaways, and more. Every participant received a free T-shirt and resource bag, and all events were welcoming, accessible, and fun at everyone’s own pace.

What are your overall or future goals?
Eventually, I hope to attend medical school to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a neurologist. Creating a positive healthcare experience for my future patients is my main goal for my career. This includes providing quality care while also addressing underlying issues that may be contributing to poor health outcomes.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for students or young researchers who wish to get more involved in brain health research?
One great thing about Case is the number of guest seminars/lectures that are given. There are numerous opportunities available for students to attend presentations and learn about the current research being conducted in the field. These are also great opportunities to meet other professionals in the field. For other undergraduates, there are also a number of clubs at Case that are related to brain health and brain health research.
