Are you Interested in Participating in Research at the CADRC?

Researchers from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth, University Hospitals and the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center have joined together to form the Cleveland Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (CADRC).

The CADRC is one of over 30 centers funded by the National Institutes on Aging. The center aims to study the different forms of dementia in the hope that learning more about the disease can lead to new forms of treating and eventually curing Alzheimer’s and related disorders.

Volunteers are critical to the research process. The center studies both people with Alzheimer’s disease and healthy individuals who are at risk for developing dementia.

This study is most interested in including volunteers who have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, mild cognitive impairment, Lewy Body Dementia, or Atypical dementia.

I currently work as a lead research coordinator for the Barrier-AD research study at the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, under the leadership of principal investigator Dr. Jagan Pillai. My responsibilities include conducting cognitive testing, assisting in lumbar puncture procedures, data entry & analysis and enrolling participants. Additionally, I work closely with the CADRC team to co-enroll participants that are currently active in their ongoing studies.

I want to continuously advance my research career, with the goal of publishing my work in a peer-reviewed scientific journal in the near future. My long-term objective is to pursue a PhD in Neurosciences following the completion of my Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) degree.

I plan to start medical school in the Fall of 2025. Later I intend to either specialize in primary care, pediatrics, or obstetrics and gynecology (OB/Gyn). In addition to my medical career, I am passionate about continuing work within neurological research. I also aim to further develop my non-profit organization Just Like YOUth Foundation.

There are many reasons why I love the work that I do! Initially, my interest in the healthcare field was due to my mother working as a nurse most of my life. I always admired her way of being able to play an instrumental role in our community. Later in life, my own personal health experiences and exposure within the medical field reinforced my career choice of becoming a physician. During my experience, I was fortunate to shadow various doctors and also work as a certified nursing assistant in an assisted living home, which further solidified my commitment to this path.
